Teri Valls is president of Meetings, Events &
Conference Coordinators, Inc. (MECC). She is
responsible for the design and implementation of
conference management, marketing strategies and
public relations programs as well as the
management of the company’s professional staff.
Ms. Valls has more than 20 years of experience
in the conference management, marketing and
public relations fields with a focus in the
medical, pharmaceutical and corporate areas as
well as special events and new product launches.
Ms. Valls is one of only 177 individuals
worldwide to receive the designation of CMM
(certified meeting manager); it is the highest
professional designation in the conference
management industry. She completed the CMM
program at the Georgetown University Conference
Center in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Valls founded Meetings, Events & Conference
Coordinators, Inc. (MECC) in 1994, with the
objective of developing and marketing medical
conferences worldwide. She expanded MECC into
one of the most prestigious medical conference
marketing and developing firms in Miami. Since
inception, she secured more than 70 percent of
the University of Miami School of Medicine’s
medical conferences as well as national accounts
for major corporations.
Prior to founding MECC, Ms. Valls was a
professional meeting developer and marketer for
the University Of Miami School of Medicine where
she worked with world-renowned physicians and
institutions such as Miami Heart Institute,
Miami Children's Hospital, The Sylvester
Comprehensive Cancer Center and international
medical associations.
For the last four years Ms. Valls has also
dedicated her time as an active board member of
the South Florida Chapter of Meeting
Professionals International, an organization
that oversees the meetings and conventions
industry and that certifies individuals with
extensive knowledge in the field.
In 1997 the Nassau/Paradise Island Ministry of
Tourism invited her to become a member of their
advisory board, an appointment she held for the
two-year tenure. In this capacity she acted as
an advisor to the government on issues involving
the development and marketing of the meetings
and conventions industry.
Ms. Valls is an expert lecturer in educational
and motivational issues and has trained
management teams at the Sol Melia Hotels &
Resorts, the Radisson Cable Beach Resort in
Nassau, Bahamas, Florida Atlantic University in
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Southern Audio
Visual, in Miami, Florida. She also trains
professionals seeking to take the Certified
Meeting Professionals exam for the South Florida
and Nassau/Paradise Island markets.
