CONTINUING MEDICAL
EDUCATION
CME Mission
The Medical Educator Consortium’s (MEC) is
dedicated to elevating the standards in
physician education. Our mission is to develop
educational activities that provide physicians
with an academic vehicle through which they can
fulfill career-long learning commitments.
PURPOSE: The purpose of our CME program
is to:
1) stimulate interest, inform, enhance skills and foster the productive
exchange of ideas, approaches and experiences
among all specialties of medicine.
2) provide a comprehensive range of programs in different medical
specialties that emphasize the latest
developments and cutting-edge medical knowledge.
TYPES OF ACTIVITIES:
The CME program will provide education through
state-of-the-art conferences that include
symposia, interactive sessions, panel
discussions, plenary sessions and written
materials.
The focus of these CME activities will be based
on enhancing the learners’ outcomes as they
relate to:
1) Competence in Patient Care
2) Performance in the Physicians Practice; or
3) Improved Patient Outcomes
EXPECTED RESULTS:
These programs rely on national level needs
assessment activities in conjunction with focus
group, random sampling and personal evaluations
that include learner outcome assessments to
identify “gaps” in current professional
practice, as a mechanism for designing
well-defined CME activities that provide
strategies and techniques to optimize health
care delivery. Additionally, participant self
assessment tools will be used as a follow up to
these programs in order to provide the
information needed to identify goals related to
competence, performance, and/or patient outcomes
and measure the success of particular programs
in achieving these goals.
These self assessment tools include:
1)
Post conference evaluations – to determine
whether a change in the physicians professional
practice has occurred which directly relates to
the CME activity.
2) Pre and/or Post test - specifically for board review courses and
enduring materials to assess of the knowledge
gained.
3) Post conference questionnaire on patient outcomes – to evaluate the
physicians overall performance as he/she relates
it to the patient care of a specific topic in
the CME activity.
The Medical Educator Consortium is accredited by
the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical
education for physicians. These activities have
been approved for AMA PRA credit.
Disclosure Statement The Medical Educator Consortium adheres to the
ACME Standards for Commercial Support. Faculty
disclosure information will be made available
during the activity. Faculty members are also
expected to disclose to participants any
discussion of off-label and/or investigational
use of pharmaceutical products or devices during
